From November 2024 until March 2026, we had five face-to-face YAB weekends and 15 online meetings. Here are some of the things we got up to at these events!
Birmingham YAB Weekend: November 2024

- Got to know each other – teambuilding.

- Agreed how to communicate with each other and use interpreters effectively.

- Started to design the logo for SignHealth CYP (the final version is displayed on this website!)

- BSL workshop.
London YAB Weekend: March 2025

- ‘How to develop a campaign’ workshop.

- Explored what intersectionality means.

- Creative workshop by deaf artist Olivier Jamin.

- Reviewed the ‘Taking Care of your Wellbeing’ workshop led by SignHealth Children and Young People Engagement Advisors and gave feedback before this workshop topic was rolled out to schools in England.
Manchester YAB Weekend: June 2025

- Explored the importance of stories in fundraising campaigns and how to put together an impactful story (including a filming session).

- ‘Taking Charge of your Health’ workshop (about health rights and the Accessible Information Standard).
Bristol YAB Weekend: October 2025

- Explored NSPCC’s services and online offer for young people, assessed how accessible it is for deaf young people, and discussed what deaf young people need from services like the NSPCC.

- Deaflympics session (using resources from the ‘Destination Deaflympics’ programme from UK Deaf Sport).
